The research
Anthropic analysed millions of real Claude conversations and mapped them against 800 occupations. Tech workers are 3% of the workforce but generate 37% of all AI usage. Most of the economy is invisible.

The fear is that AI takes jobs. The data says the opposite: the market now pays a premium for people who can use it, and that premium tripled in a year.
The average UK wage premium for workers with AI skills. It was 11% a year ago. In consumer-facing sectors it reaches 64%.
Growth in UK job postings asking for AI skills in 2025, while overall vacancies fell 6.6%. The growth is people who apply AI in their field, not developers.
AI mentions in marketing job ads doubled in twelve months, from 8.4% to 14.9%. The same shift is happening in every knowledge role.
